Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua took to social media to confirm that he had been recognized as an elder of the community in a ceremony which was graced on Saturday.
He said that he is proud of the rewarded accorded to him by the elders. He also said that he has been given the mandate to lead the Kamba nation.
Mutua went on to urge Kenyans to carefully read the Building Bridges Initiative before they make any conclusion on the same. He noted that the report will transform the nation if adopted. Mutua further said that there is a need for unity if Kenya has to progress to the next stages of economic development.
"Truly humbled by the honour bestowed unto me by the Thome wa Akamba, Council of Elders today as they installed me as a Kamba Elder. They also tasked me with the responsibility of leading the Kamba nation, a role I humbly accept. As we await the BBI report, I call on all of us to remain objective. Let us all embrace the clarion call of unity, cohesion and peace. The sanctity of Kenya is our ultimate responsibility and I want to affirm my commitment to this noble cause," he posted on his Facebook page.
The governor has declared his interest in the presidency. He is considered one of the candidates whose move Kenyans should watch. His entry could complicate matters for Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka when that time comes.
