The new boss assumes office following the suspension of Atanas Maina. Maina lost his job in August 2018 after he was linked to graft during his tenure in office.

In a message sent to the media, KRC board chairman Maj General (Rtd) Pastor Awita said that the new boss is expected to assume office with immediate effect after being cleared for the same. He will serve the corporation for a period of three years after his appointment.

“The Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure James Macharia has appointed Mr Philip J. Mainga for a term of three years. Let us purpose to support in this role,” read the message from the corporation

The new appointment comes at a time when the government is looking forward to revamping the old railway lines among other projects.

Mainga has now been tasked with restoring the lost glory of the corporation after it was put on the spot over graft related issues among other problems. Various stakeholders have exuded confidence in the new boss as he embarks on reshaping the corporation.
