Barasa Wanbulwa says that nominated MCA Lilian Onsiema attacked her within the precincts of the assembly on Tuesday afternoon and beat him up.

The fight reportedly started during a sitting inside the assembly, where Wanbulwa says that Onsiema repeatedly kept pulling his coat to prevent him from contributing to the debate.

However, Onsiema says that Wanbulwa referred to her and other female nominated MCAs as prostitutes who should not speak and later accosted him outside the chambers.

Speaking on Saturday, Wanbulwa (60) said that Onsiema attacked him with a walking stick, embarrassing him before his colleagues and going against Tachoni traditions.

"Even if it were my own wife who did that, she would have to be sent to her parents with whom she'll come back with to face the elders and rituals performed, including paying fine, before being readmitted home," he said on phone.

He said that he also lost his car keys, adding that the issue will have to be reported to the Tachoni elders, who he is part of, to have Osiema cursed, and will also make a complaint with the police.

He said that his colleagues restrained him during the beating.

"When the session was over and members were filing out of the Chambers, she accosted me at the door and challenged me to repeat what I was saying before she started beating me up but I was restrained by colleagues," he added.

Onsiema says that she was only fighting back.

She has since been suspended for a year, which will see her lose her parking sticker, Sh5,000 airtime allowance, insurance cover and Sh39,000 monthly commuter allowance.
