President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga have assembled a team of strong men and women who will rally for BBI agenda.
The two leaders are keen to succeed in the project, which is likely to culminate in a referendum later this year.
Having partitioned the country into regions, the two have picked individuals who will spearhead the campaigns.
Excluded from the team are Deputy President William Ruto and a number of leaders allied to him, Sunday Nation reports.
With Raila tasked to do fieldwork, Dr Fred Matiang'i, the Interior CS, is overall in charge of logistics and Nyanza region.
He has already organised Nyanza forum in Kisii.
Although Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya is seen as the head of Western Kenya, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa is the coordinator of the events.
Eugene was in Bukhungu on Saturday when the team arrived at the region to drum up support for BBI.
“As a member of the Luhya community, I will not shy away from this assignment and will — alongside other leaders from the western Kenya region — lead this process, which I believe is good for the country,” the CS told Sunday Nation.
Peter Munya, the former Meru governor and now Agriculture minister is tasked to control Mt Kenya and surroundings.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and the three Ukambani governors are in charge of Eastern region.
For Rift Valley, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi shall take charge.
Governor Hassan Joho shall organise the coastal region.
There are plans to ask Aden Duale to take over Northeastern and Governor Josephat Nanok to control North Rift.
It is hoped, however, that the two, “who have immense respect for the President”, will be swayed to fully change allegiance to the President.
Reached for comment, Mr Duale said he had not been contacted over such appointment.
“I am nonetheless in support of the BBI and even consulted the Head of State on Friday on other matters, although he never mentioned this one to me.”
