Confirming the incident, Busia county police commander John Nyoike said three people were arrested in connection with the bhang.

The police boss said that among those arrested include a driver of a vehicle, Toyota Axio, and two other people who were in the car transporting the outlawed herb.

He disclosed that the bhang was impounded at a roadblock along Busia-Kisumu highway just a few meters from River Sio.

The arrested are in police custody.

"The suspects will be interrogated with the view of trying to establish where the bhang was to be delivered," Nyoike said as quoted by the standard.

The county police boss further warned residents against illegal businesses that may get them into trouble with the law.

Instead, he urged them to invest in a legal business that enriches them

"Business like this one is not good, let them do legit business that will not have any problem with the law enforcement agencies," said Nyoike who affirmed that the fight against drugs and illicit brew will continue and anyone found culpable will face the law.
