Speaking during AM Live segment on NTV, Midiwo said the Bill was 'going nowhere' and asked Aukot to abandon the initiative as recently advised by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga.

"I told Ekuru Aukot that this thing you are peddling is shallow, Raila has reached out to you, take the olive branch," Midiwo said on Tuesday.

About two weeks ago, Raila said Aukot's Bill won't solve the long-standing problems affecting Kenyans and asked its proponents to support a referendum likely to be generated from the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

"Kenyans are facing many challenges that we know can't be solved through Punguza Mizigo. All we are waiting for is the BBI report so that we can go for a referendum in accordance with our recommendations," the former Prime Minister said during a function in Turkana County, which is Aukot's backyard.

Reacting to Midiwo's sentiments, the Thirdway Alliance boss said he was not Raila's 'slave' and told off the former legislator for rubbishing a Bill 'whose contents he does not understand'.

"Unbelievable! In his drunken stupor, this fellow, Jakoyo Midiwo, couldn't even pronounce Punguza Mizigo Bill 2019 leave alone understanding the contents of it. Unlike Midiwo, Ekuru Aukot is not a slave of Raila Odinga. Cheap talk in cheap shows!" Aukot tweeted.
