A college student from a private college in Kiambu Town failed to sit her business examination paper after she went into labour.
The principal, David Kebati, said the student was rushed to a hospital in Kikuyu sub-county to deliver her baby on November 15.
Speaking on Thursday to KNA, Kebati said the college student was scheduled to sit her exam paper at 11:00 am on the material date when she started experiencing labour pains.
The woman had gone into labour on Thursday night but had not yet delivered by Friday.
The principal who was speaking at the County Commissioner’s office while collecting examination papers said the college had made arrangements to have the student sit for her papers at the hospital.
He said the student could however not sit for her business examination at the hospital after her husband informed the college administration that she was still experiencing pains.
“We had undertaken to deliver the Examination paper by providing an invigilator and security to the hospital in Kikuyu County Hospital but her husband informed us that she was in too much pain to do the examination and that she could not be talked to,” said Kebati as quoted by KNA.
The college has not yet received any information on the condition of the student who is still in the hospital.
The student will be required to rebook for the papers that she will miss to sit this year so she can do them next year.
Kiambu sub-county director of Education Roselyne Litaba lauded efforts made by the college administration to help the student get the necessary help.
