A 30-year-old man died on Sunday morning after he was hit by a vehicle along Kitui-Machakos road.
Confirming the incident, Mwala Base Commander Jack Illa said that the vehicle did not stop after causing the accident.
Speaking to Hivisasa on the phone, he divulged that the accident happened near Thwake bridge in Masii and that it involved a motorcycle and a vehicle whose identity remains unknown.
He said the victim who died on the spot was a Boda Boda operator who was heading to Machakos from Masii while the vehicle was heading in the opposite direction.
" The accident happened near Thwake bridge, it involved a motorcycle and an unknown vehicle. Unfortunately, we had a fatality. The vehicle did not stop," said Illa.
Illa advised motorists against fleeing after causing an accident since they can save a life.
"It is so unfortunate that you can hit a human being and run away, people are acting as if they are not human. You should stop and check on the victim," he said.
He advised drivers who feel that it would be dangerous for them to stop after causing an accident they should drive to the nearest police station and report.
"Report to the police station and you will get assisted because the victim is a human being like any other person," he intimated.
