Senator Samson Cherargei has asked the office of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to speed up the probe into Deputy President William Ruto’s assassination claims.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, the senator said that the matter should be treated with the seriousness it deserves.
He noted that cases of assassination almost plunged this nation into chaos and Kenya cannot afford to go back to the same situation.
Cherargei also said that the matter is not entirely politically driven because someone somewhere might pick a war with the second in command because of different reasons.
“These are very serious allegations and as a country, we must treat it with the seriousness it deserves. We cannot just rule out given the cut-throat political competition and the nature of political assassinations that have happened before,” he said in part.
He also said that the idea of Cabinet secretaries meeting to discuss some issues of development is not bad, but there are boardrooms for such events. He also said that Cabinet Secretary must concentrate on delivering their promises instead of anything else.
The DCI has put four Cabinet Secretary over his performance. The four are Transport CS James Macharia, Joe Mucheru ( Information), Sicily Kariuki (Health) and Trade & Industrialization CS Peter Munya.
