Nominated Senator Milicent Omanga now wants Citizen TV to apologise over the disaster celebrities tag.
In an interview on JKL show on Wednesday, Omanga claimed that media houses have started to undermine women in different ways.
She said the time has come for Kenyans to respect the fact that women are also born to lead.
The vocal legislator reiterated that women play an immense role in the leadership of the country and they deserve respect all the time.
"It is so irresponsible of the media to brand us as ‘disaster celebrities’, we need an apology from you guys," Omanga said as quoted in a tweet by Citizen TV.
A section of women leaders has expressed their anger after the tag started doing rounds online.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris is among the women who were upset by the tag.
She took to her social media account to lament over the matter and also demanded an apology from the media.
It all started when Citizen posted a cryptic message; “DISASTER CELEBRITIES; How politicians, public figures cash in on disasters. Kiarie: This area has no public schools due to land grabbing. Omanga: We blame the gov’t for not taking care of schools. Passaris: During campaigns we promised to put up a school here #MondayReport."
