The County Government of Nakuru has started the process of fencing Moi Flats estate in a bid to reduce insecurity in the area.

County Executive in charge of Land, Housing and Physical Planning Francis Mwangi, said lack of fences in most estates in the county poses a great security risk.

Speaking while inspecting fencing of the flats, Mwangi said there is need to secure the estate to have a well-planned urban settlement.

Mwangi further noted that the county government is determined to to ensure affordable and comfortable housing as the municipality hunts to be elevated to a city.

According to Mwangi, the county government is working to construct more houses and medium-sized shops for tenants, adding that there is need to secure the estate to have a well planned urban settlement.

Reacting to the fencing project, Dominic Kibue, the tenants' chairperson appreciated the efforts of the county administration, adding that it will create a good working relationship between the county government and Moi estate residents.

The estate sits on a 5 acre piece of land and accommodates 59 housing units.
