World Marathon Champion Eliud Kipchoge has returned in the country after his historic run in Vienna, Austria on Saturday.
However, unlike his departure where he jetted out in a private jet, Kipchoge returned aboard a Kenya Airways (KQ) plane.
Confirming his arrival, KQ Communications Manager Denis Kashero said that the marathoner arrived in the country on Wednesday morning at 6:18 AM.
”Honored to fly our champion Eliud Kipchoge home from Amsterdam. The Pride is so proud of you,” KQ tweeted.
On Saturday, Kipchoge became the first man to run a 42-kilometre marathon in less than two hours.
He crossed the finish line at 1:59:40 in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge.
The record was not recognized by the international athletics governing body IAAF because the race did not meet various standards and also broke several rules and regulations.
Kipchoge, the greatest marathoner of all time, however, still holds the world record in the marathon, a record he set in last year's Berlin Marathon.
