Police officers in Nakuru County are investigating the death of a woman who was allegedly murdered by her husband before he fled away.
The lifeless body of the 35-year old woman identified as Naomi Wanjiru was discovered by her eldest son on Sunday morning at their home in Free Area. Apparently the son had gone to ask his mother for money to buy milk that was to be used in the preparation of breakfast.
The boy told Nation that it was unusual for her mother to sleep till late.
“My mother usually wakes us up very early. I found her but our father was not there,” the son said.
According to the son, he saw his stepfather, Mr Titus King'oria, leave in the middle of the night while carrying a bag but did not bother to ask him where he was headed at such a time.
“We have been living together as a family ... he was like our father. He never quarrelled with our 'mum' or with us. We always respected him,” the son narrated.
He alerted the neighbours upon finding his mother's body.
The late mother of three who was described as hard-working was working as a vendor at the Free Area market.
Area Sub-county Police Commander Ellena Kaburu confirmed the incidence adding that they suspected strangulation as the cause of death.
She pointed out that investigation into the case had commenced.
