Daggoretti North lawmaker Simba Arati has proposed a tougher and more vicious penalty for people caught to have looted state funds amounting to Sh1 billion and above.
Speaking on Wednesday, the opposition parliamentarian stressed on the need for the nation to make it more scary for people to stick their hands into public coffers.
He proposed the public killing of those found guilty of stealing above Sh1 billion, suggesting that they should be lined up at Uhuru Park for a date with a firing squad.
"Tunataka ukiiba bilioni moja kuendelea unapelekwa Uhuru Park, unafungwa macho na firing squad inaitwa unapigwa kitu (we want a situation where if you steal one billion and above you are taken to Uhuru Park, blindfolded and the firing squad called in to deal with you)," he said.
He made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Wednesday night, hosted by presenter Bramwell Mwololo.
He opined that this way, corruption will most likely fall, due to the fear that will be inflicted, especially on state officials who are on most occasions involved.
"We need to make corruption very expensive. Iwe costly that mtu akifikiria kuingiza mkono kwa pesa ya wananchi anaingiza maji (let it be costly that people develop fear from getting their hands into public money)," he added.
This comes amid an active fight on the menace which is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the relevant bodies including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Public Prosecutions.
