Amid the full-blown conflict within the ruling party pitting two rival camps, one allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the other one backing his deputy William Ruto, political analyst Shitemi Khamadi believes the DP will emerge the winner in the long- run.

According to Shitemi, the continued attacks on the DP by the anti-Ruto gang is only making Dr. Ruto strong as he will use his perceived humiliation in the hands of Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga's men to win sympathy votes come 2022.

" The more the anti-Ruto gang paints him as corrupt and frustrate him in public, the more they position him as the people's candidate. He will win public sympathy," said Khamadi in his opinion on the Star newspaper.

Further, the perceived sidelining of the DP in key economic decisions in the country today will work to his advantage as he will use it as a campaign tool in 2022 to defend his development record while in office.

The analyst's comment comes just after emerged that the DP had been denied access to his official residence in Mombasa, something that has elicited mixed reactions within the political circles.

Further, the last week arrest of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has only complicated things within government amid claims by Ruto-allied MPs that the move was meant to silence them because of their support for the DP.
