Thirdway Alliance boss Dr Ekuru Aukot has weighed in on the legal troubles of the governor of Nairobi county Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
In a tweet, Dr Aukot explained what he would have done had he been approached by Sonko for his legal services in a response to a social media user who sought to know.
"What would you have done if he approached you for representation in court, " the social media user had asked.
The chief exponent of the doomed Punguza Mizigo Initiative said that he would have declined the offer, citing conflict of interest.
"I would have pleaded conflict of interest or a very likelihood of the same. I would politely decline and recommend another counsel, " Dr Aukot's tweet read.
The former presidential candidate had earlier in the day taken issue with Senate majority leader KIpchumba Murkomen offering legal services for the embattled county boss.
"Imagine when Sonko appears before Senate for scrutiny, what will the leader of the majority in Senate do?" he wondered.
Governor Sonko was represented by a star-studded cast of lawyers that included senators.
A section of Kenyans have faulted the senators for representing the governor, saying that the case could very well come up before the senate in future.
The governor faces an array of corruption-related charges.
