South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has slammed civil servants taking up census jobs while jobless youths are being left out.
Speaking at Sengera Parish in Bomachoge Chache on Sunday, Osoro said civil servants should not take up the census jobs.
"It is shameful for a civil servant to chase a census job yet such people are entitled to a monthly salary. Anyone with a job even if it is 'mjengo' should leave the census job for those who don't have anything to do," said the vocal lawmaker.
He warned local chiefs against awarding the census jobs to people who are already employed.
The MP said youths without jobs but have completed form four should be given the census job to at least get money to join even driving school.
"Jobless youths need to be empowered. I will take the claims that some teachers have taken up the census jobs as untrue for the time being until I come across one. There are qualified youths in Nyamira and Kisii counties who are jobless to get the census jobs," he noted.
