Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has apologised to President Uhuru Kenyatta over the divisive 2017 polls which saw the opposition reject the outcome.
Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya during the launch of Building Bridges Initiative report, Musyoka said he was a bit confrontational during the competition.
Musyoka moved the audience when he asked for forgiveness from the president, adding that Kenya remains bigger than anyone.
"This is not the time to be angry, for saying "watatoshea bahasha" I was misquoted and I apologise. Your Excellency, for all the wrong things I said about you, I say sorry," he said.
Musyoka was the running mate for former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in 2013 and 2017 polls.
During the launch, Kalonzo said his party Wiper will organise a meeting on Thursday to interrogate the BBI report and make further recommendations.
The BBI team has recommended a raft of changes among them disbanding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for a new one before the 2022 polls.
“We must seek to shift our terms of engagement as leaders, as individuals and as citizens, if we are to have competitive and constructive elections. That should be our first priority,” the team said.
Also, the team has supported introduction of a prime minister's post, who will be picked by the president from among Members of Parliament.
"The prime minister shall be the leader of government business in the National Assembly. On the president’s tasking, the prime minister will chair Cabinet sub-committees," The report read in part as quoted by the Star.
