Naysayers are those people who have a poor attitude towards different things, are always on negative criticism and are frequent complainers.
At some time in life, you will encounter them. They could be your friends, family members or colleagues.
These people will discourage you from pursuing your dreams, they will always joke on serious issues and will keep you from seizing different opportunities.
If you meet a naysayer, here's how to deal with him/her;
1. Ignore them
You should know that your life is yours and no one should force you to take what they tell you and just because someone has an advice for you doesn't mean you should heed to them. Go with what is best for you.
2. You don't have to engage in all discussions
Naysayers will always have their views in every discussion. There is no need for seeking affirmation from them on your plans. They will find reasons to justify you are wrong and this can result in discouragement.
3. Safeguard your goals
You should be very keen and sensitive with whom you are sharing your goals with. A naysayer will focus on the downsides and completely discourage you. This will rub off your confidence and optimism destroying your dreams.
4. Eject them from your life
If someone constantly keeps bringing you down, there is no reason for you to be spending time with them. You can eject them completely from your life or reduce your contact with them. Spend your time with encouraging and supportive people.
5. Work hard and inspire yourself
The best way to deal with naysayers is proving that you are capable. Stay focused, commit, take calculated risks, ask for help and always lean on the positive side. Let them see your success.
