Waiguru had threatened to sue rapper Kennedy Ombima alias King Kaka who dragged her into his latest hit.

In a statement on Facebook, Tuesday, Waiguru admitted that corruption has cost the country billions besides making it impossible for development.

"It's an inescapable fact that corruption has stifled development and adversely crippled our economy; that is why we should all support the ongoing efforts to fight this scourge," she wrote.

But as Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Waiguru noted, she learnt a lot on how to prudently manage resources, adding that officials at the time took advantage of weak systems.

Through the lessons, she said, Kirinyaga County has performed well in terms of resources management.

"On my part I have used the lessons learnt in my season as CS Devolution and Planning, where some took advantage of weak systems to misuse public funds to guide my management of Kirinyaga County," she said.

"No wonder we were ranked 3rd best county by Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) with regard to best practice in procurement & compliance with the law."

Waiguru was linked to loss of billions from NYS but she has never been charged.

She resigned from the ministry before joining politics.
