Private investigator Jane Mugo has once again claimed that her life is in danger, alleging that some investigating officers in her ongoing case have threated her.
Mugo, a certified detective, has been in trouble with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) which is accusing her of issuing death threats to two people, resulting in criminal charges.
She appeared before a Nairobi magistrate's court on Friday, where through her lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Danstan Omari, she requested the court for protection.
The lawyers claimed that they will be soon giving more details about the said threats.
“Our client’s life is in danger as she is afraid of the investigators in the case. We ask for the court’s protection as we intend to reveal the context of the threats,” said the lawyers.
While dismissing the charges filed against his client, Omari said that the very same charges were filed before another court in 2014, and thrown out by the court.
Ms Mugo said that she has since surrendered her gun at the Kileleshwa Police Post and also had her fingerprints taken.
The prosecution confirmed supplying the defence with the exhibits and witness statements it will use to prosecute the case.
