Political analyst Gerald Bitok has said there is a high probability that the Kibra parliamentary by-election might not happen, judging by the indications manifesting themselves currently.
The commentator based his argument on the trace of violence that has began showing, the first one being the alleged attack and destruction of Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga's campaign materials on Saturday.
Bitok said should the same continue, which is very likely, then chances are very high that the election will not be done on the slated date.
"I really doubt if this Kibra by-election will happen. With the start of the violence, it might not happen. (Hii election ya Kibra I really doubt kama itafanyika, hii hali ya violence vile imeanza huenda haitafanyika)," he said.
He made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Wednesday night, where he predicted even more intense campaigns on the ground going forward.
According to Bitok, the leading Jubilee and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) parties are only likely to go deeper in pursuit of the seat, in a bid to take control of the constituency.
He said the two groups will be out to use any possible weapon to clinch the post, which might result in more trouble being witnessed in the coming days.
"Hii (this) Kibra is so important that they will fight for it to the end," he added.
