There is tension at Moi University after a section of the students staged demonstrations on Friday morning.
The students marched along the school's academic highway while shouting and chanting.
The Moi University Students Organisation (MUSO) had issued a memo calling for peaceful gathering at the university's students center.
According to the memo, the student leaders claimed that they were left with no other option but to take to the streets after their efforts to engage with the university management on matters that were affecting the students failed.
Some of the issues that were listed in the memo include; increase in the supplementary exam fee, the prohibition of cooking in hostels, redesigning of the school portal among others.

Shortly after the memo from the student leaders was released, the office of the dean of students released another memo declaring the gathering illegal and advised students against engaging in it. The administration, however, noted that the issues that were raised by the student leaders were being addressed.
This comes two days after Kenyatta University was closed indefinitely due to students unrest.
