A Kisii Member of County Assembly has defended Deputy Governor Joash Maangi's decision to support Deputy President William Ruto.
Masige East MCA Davins Onuso, who doubles as Kisii County Assembly Deputy Speaker argued that it is wrong for Maangi's official cars to be seized, his security officers and staff withdrawn, because of his political stand.
"I wish to condemn the mistreatment Maangi is being subjected to just because of his position in politics. His freedom of expression must be respected and be allowed to support anyone he fells comfortable to work with," he said in Kisii town on Monday evening.
The vocal MCA said Maangi had a upper hand in the election of Kisii Governor James Ongwae, and therefore deserves respect as the deputy governor.
The MCA pointed out that Maangi's trouble started after he held a press conference where he vowed to expose corruption in the county.
"Maangi's official car and staff should be reinstated so that he can continue serving the people of Kisii County. 2022 politics should not hinder development in Kisii County, since Ongwae needs Maangi as his deputy for operations to continue smoothly in the devolved unit," he added.
