Political commentator Barrack Muluka has waded into the spat pitting hustlers against dynasties which has raged for months on end ahead of the 2022 general election.
Muluka, who is the Amani National Congress (ANC) Party secretary-general, noted dynasties are all over in the political, economic and social spheres and contended there is nothing wrong in belonging to one.
“There is nothing wrong with dynasties. There are many medical, legal, journalism, sports and many other dynasties in this country. It is not wrong to belong to one," he said.
Speaking during the Point Blank Show on Wednesday night, Muluka cautioned Deputy President William Ruto against banking on the dynasty versus hustler narrative to rise to power in the next polls.
He challenged the DP to come out and disclose the source of funds he has been contributing at various fundraisers across the country amid repeated claims he hailed from a humble background.
"Ruto should not bank on this to lie to Kenyans. He should instead tell Kenyans where he gets the millions of shillings he dishes out to churches and other groups,” Muluka said.
Ruto's supporters have labelled themselves as the 'Hustler Nation' and have been claiming they will ensure the DP dislodges dynasties from power.
They have been referring specifically to the families of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner ODM leader Raila Odinga.
A week ago, Uhuru warned against the dynasty versus hustler talk saying it will not get anyone to power.
"Leadership is not about where you were born. It is not about where you came from. It is not about the colour of your skin. It is not about your tribe. It is just about a desire to serve — a desire to do good, a desire to make a difference in the lives of people, and anybody can do that," he said during the 41st public commemoration of the death of Kenya's first President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
