Residents of Rianyati village in Nyatieko, Kisii County were left in a rude shock after bodies of two middle-aged men were found dumped by the roadside along Nyatieko - Keera road on the wee hours of Wednesday.
Nyatieko chief Lawrence Omari said a passerby discovered the bodies before raising alarm.
"A man who was going to his farm at 5 am spotted the bodies dumped by the roadside and upon trying to wake the suspects they were not responding prompting him to raise an alarm to attract other members of the public," said Omari.
Chief Omari said residents who responded to the alarm said the two men have been notorious thieves stealing from Nyatieko.
The administrator said the deceased persons hailed from Nyakwara village in Getare.
"The suspects were killed elsewhere by unknown people before their bodies were dumped here. The bodies had visible injuries around the neck an indication that they were strangled to death," he said.
Kisii police commander Martin Kibet said the bodies were collected by Nyatieko police station officers and taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral morgue.
"Probe has commenced establishing circumstances under which the two men were killed. Residents should surrender criminals to police and not killing them," Kibet opined.
