Speaking on Thursday, Midiwo threw his support behind the push to implement the recommendations through the people, against the idea to use the parliament.

The former National Assembly Minority Whip said that if it were to be taken to parliament, as is being proposed by some politicians, he would lead the way in rejecting the move.

"If BBI was to be taken to parliament, I would be the first one to oppose it," Midiwo said in an interview on K24, Thursday morning.

He also noted that he is against the document being passed in its current state, stressing on the need for it to be amended to come up with a final document with the best proposals.

The former lawmaker said that the document should be further looked into and given the needed streamlining.

"Let's treat BBI as a working document and amend it," he noted.

His opinion corroborates with that of anti-parliamentary campaigners, who want the document subjected to committee of experts before being presented for a referendum.

But the other group has questioned the need for these steps, arguing that since the report was supposedly compiled from views collected from Kenyans, it should be implemented as it is.
