The much-awaited INEOS Challenge that seeks see Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge make a historic attempt of finishing a full marathon below two hours will take place on Saturday.

The release of the date for the marathon which will take place in Vienna, Austria had delayed as experts tried to find the most favourable conditions for the race.

The start time of the challenge however still remains unknown but it is suspected to be within 5:00 am and 9:00 am. 

According to Citizen Digital, the official start time for the marathon will be decided before Friday by INEOS 1:59 Performance and Meteorology experts.

Robby Ketchell who is in charge of weather analysis in the INEOS 1:59 Challenge says various weather factors were being studied to provide the best atmospheric condition for the marathon.

“We have looked at the weather patterns for Vienna coming through and the current conditions are looking to be optimal for temperature, humidity, wind and precipitation for this Saturday morning," Ketchell was quoted by Citizen Digital

“Weather analysis, as one part of the Challenge we cannot control, has been the subject of much hard work from the team over the past few months and with the best knowledge we have right now Saturday 12th October is looking to be the best conditions we could have hoped for,” he added.

Kipchoge, the World Marathon Record holder is already in Vienna where he is preparing for the race.
