Three family members have been killed and several others sustained serious injuries following a road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The family members were in a personal car during the Saturday night accident in Naivasha as they were travelling from Nakuru to Nairobi.
A trailer smashed into the rear of the personal car, forcing it to ram into the rear of another trailer ahead killing the three family members of the spot.
Naivasha OCPD Samuel Waweru confirmed the accident, adding that four other people sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital.
Waweru said they have launched investigations into the incident adding that the drivers of the two trucks have recorded statements with the police.
“Initial investigations point to the driver of the last trailer for the accident which claimed three lives and he shall be charged in court once investigations are through,” said Waweru as quoted by Standard.
The accident caused a traffic jam in the busy highway, but the situation eased after police towed away the wrecks.
