Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has weighed on in the arrest of Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino over the shooting incident at the B Club.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Monday, Linturi said that Babu Owino should face the full force of the law if he is guilty of the crime levelled against him.
He noted that the legislator is not above the law, adding that he must take responsibility of his action after a CCTV footage captured a man believed to be him shooting a DJ at the Club under unclear circumstances.
" We should all be equal before the law, Babu being an MP does not make him a god. There was an order for the closure of the club, had it been closed, Babu wouldn't be there. People below 35 can be very careless with handling firearms," he said.
While addressing the issue on the same panel, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna said that the party has not distanced itself from the lawmaker. He, however, said that the political outfit does not send people to bars to have fun, adding that Owino will not be favoured as he faces the court.
