Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has poured scorn on former Harambee Stars midfielder McDonald Mariga's bid in the Kibra parliamentary race.
Mariga is the Jubilee Party candidate in the by-election scheduled for November 7, 2019.
Keter termed the former soccer star a 'non-starter' saying he can't be convinced or intimidated to back his candidature.
In a tweet on Wednesday night, the outspoken MP also ridiculed Mariga's bid saying he does not hail from Kibra and has never participated in an election.
"No amount of lobbying nor intimidation is going to make me support a non-starter like Mariga who has never voted in his life and is not even from Kibra period!!! #Kwendeni uko," Keter posted.
A few weeks ago, details emerged that Mariga was a registered voter in Starehe Constituency. It was also revealed he has never voted and registered as a voter for the first time on August 26, 2019.
Keter was responding to a purported text message from Deputy President William Ruto asking Jubilee MPs to volunteer as Mariga's agents during next week polls.
"Members, as you are aware, there is a by-election happening in Kibra. We need 75 MPs to help as agents to protect Mariga's Jubilee vote. Please register through this number by tomorrow Thursday, 31st October by 3pm," read the text.
Keter is among Rift Valley MPs who have been very vocal in criticising Ruto's style of leadership.
