Kenya drivers and tour guides association's secretary Felix Migoya has disowned social media reports that rare polka-dotted zebra named Tira was caged in Maasai Mara National Reserve.
This comes as Tira was spotted crossing the Kenyan border towards Tanzania with other zebras. The rare black zebra species calve was spotted by a Maasai tour guide and photographer Anthony Tira who named the animal after him.
“These social media reports are fake, the one in the post is bigger and was captured in South Africa on unidentified dates some years back,” said Migoya.
The polka-dot zebra which is now reported to be grazing in Serengeti National Park. The rare species became famous immediately or was spotted making everyone curious to see hence attracting more tourist to Maasai Mara.
“Because of its colour, it became famous all over sudden and has been driving tourism enthusiasts to the Mara and the roads might now change towards Serengeti as more people are following on the creature,” Migoya added
The zebra shocked many for having white dots instead of white stripes like others.
