Revelations from a private meeting at Gicheha Farm between President Uhuru Kenyatta, a section of Nakuru leaders and Kikuyu elders continues to elicit mixed reactions.
It is said the meeting was among other things, drumming support for the Building Bridges Initiative.
Bahati MP Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri who late last year led a delegation to Deputy President William Ruto’s home in Sugoi now says majority of those who attended the Tuesday meeting at Gicheha Farm in Rongai, Nakuru were also present in Sugoi.
Addressing media in Nakuru town on Wednesday morning, Ngunjiri wondered why such meeting was sanitized yet the one in Sugoi was condemned.
Ngunjiri claiming that the Kikuyu elders who were in Gicheha Farm meeting with President Kenyatta pocketed Sh10,000 each and that he(Ngunjiri) has no problem with that.
Ngunjiri also differed with the President on a claim that the meeting at Gicheha Farm saw elders promised that the BBI will ensure a special seat for the Kikuyu community.
While stating that no one is against the BBI Report, Ngunjiri said the report should not be used by individuals to advance their own political agenda.
He called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure the cordial relationship they had with his Deputy William Ruto so as to leave behind a legacy of a united Kenya rather than a divided one.
“Why is it that a meeting in Sugoi becomes a problem but a similar meeting takes place in Gicheha and elders are told to pass BBI because there is a special seat for the Kikuyu,l wondered Ngunjiri.
The vocal Nakuru legislator also called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure unity of Rift Valley and Kenya as a whole ahead of 2022.
The first consultative meeting on BBI was held in Kisii on Friday last week.
The BBI report has seen DP Ruto, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula read from the same script as they question the source of funding and importance of the meetings at the county level.
The second meeting will be held in Western on January 18 amid divisions among leaders from the region.
