President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday returned to his Mt Kenya backyard amid sharp divisions over BBI debate.
Last month, Uhuru hosted leaders from the populous region at Sagana State Lodge where he urged them to support his unity agenda.
Days after launching the Building Bridges Initiative report, Uhuru on Wednesday visited Kiambu County, whose Governor Ferdinand Waititu is fighting graft charges.
The head of state commissioned a dispensary in Mang'u which was funded by the Japanese government.
"President Uhuru Kenyatta presides over the official hand-over ceremony of Mang’u Dispensary Outpatient Block in Kiambu County. The facility was developed by the Japanese Embassy in Kenya," State House said.
Later, Uhuru is set to commission the newly-built Gatundu Level Five Hospital near his ancestral home in Central Kenya.
The head of state has been shunning a number of leaders opposing his handshake with Raila Odinga from his Mt Kenya region.
Early this week, the anti-handshake team vowed to hold several sensitisation rallies on BBI which they insist must go through parliament.
"Parliament is the sole body constitutionally mandated to pass laws. We commit ourselves to drive legal work in Parliament moving forward," part of the statement read by Embu Senator Njeru Ndwiga read.
