Senator Mohammed Faki and Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir have defended Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho against the onslaughts of combative Nyali MP Mohammed Ali.
Ali had asked the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to probe Joho over the alleged lucrative cargo transportation in the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
“I want to tell the DPP and DCI that on Sunday, we read in the newspaper that the port was going to benefit only one family. We want you to take action against Governor Joho’s family," he said in part.
Faki and Nassir have asked the lawmaker to come clean on where he was when the second-term governor was on the forefront in opposing the creation of a dry Port in Naivasha.
They said that Ali, a former investigative journalist, was only using Joho’s name for his political gain.
“We cannot say that one person is benefitting because he is not speaking out against the government now. Where was Mohammed Ali when Joho was at the forefront in opposing the implementation of the SGR?” asked Mr Faki, as quoted by Daily Nation.
The lawmakers also asked Ali to concentrate on the delivery of services to the people who elected him into power instead of fighting him.
