Uasin Gishu Speaker David Kiplagat has been elected as the chair of Speakers in Kenya.

He won by 27 votes against his close competitor, Christopher Mitei who had 20 votes.

Through his official Facebook page, Kiplagat thanked the County Assembly Speaker for electing and believing in him and promised to uphold integrity and honesty.

“I am greatly humbled and utterly honoured on being elected chair of Speaker's chapter in Kenya. I wish to express my most sincere gratitude to God and the Honorable Speaker's for bestowing me the opportunity to represent them in the County Assemblies Forum(CAF) Executive Committee,” said the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker.

 “CAF is an umbrella body bringing together all the County Assemblies in Kenya for purposes of driving the legislative agenda across the Country and protecting Devolution," he further explained.

He promised to remain true to his role as the Speakers' chair.

 "I will strive to uphold integrity, honesty, and rule of law as by law established,” he plegded.

Kiplagat is also the patron of County Assemblies Sports Association chair and Chair of North Rift speakers chapter.

Kiplagat, described by his associates is a soft-spoken person is an Information Technology (IT) expert and he is popularly known as "DK".
