Sleuths from the office of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday arrested two police officers in Makueni over theft allegations.

DCI said that the officers, who are based at the Kambu police post, were caught stealing Tarmal Wire products before they were burst and arrested. 

The truck had been involved in an accident after the driver veered off the road while avoiding to cause the deaths of road users.  The officers have been identified as Constables Dominic Wambua and Edward Osiyo.

"Two Police Officers based at Kambu P/Post in Makueni were last night arrested by DCI Detectives alongside Four other civilians found Stealing Tarmal Wire Products from a Truck after it veered off the road. The driver who had avoided ramming into other road-users had gone to report the accident at the said Post, only to get back to the M/V & find Constables Dominic WAMBUA & Edward OSIYO standing watch as four men offloaded the goods to an Isuzu Pickup, DCI said.

It took the effort of detectives from Mtito-Andei to arrest the suspects. The sleuths were on patrol in the area before they were informed of the incident.  The detectives also arrested Wambua Ndege, Pius Kimuyu, Cosmas Kilonzo and Pius Wambua over the incident.

"DCI Detectives based at Mtito-Andei who were patrolling the area detected the crime, ambushed & arrested all the perpetrators. Both the officers & the other suspects; Pius Kimuyu, Pius Wambua, Wambua Ndege, and Cosmas Kilonzo in custody pending arraignment. M/Vehicles also detained for further police action, added DCI.

 Detectives have intensified probe into the matter pending more arrests.
