ANC, Ford Kenya and Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) have not been in good terms with the dominant ODM party since the 2017 elections, where the alliance endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency.

But, Raila's loss has been succeeded by internal wrangles, with ODM last months threatening to pull out. The ANC party now says that it owns that alliance and is the brain behind it.

Asked if the party would leave the alliance, ANC Secretary General Barrack Muluka said that ODM, being the troublesome sibling, should be the one to leave and leave the others, whom he said are working together in harmony.

“Why should we pull out of what belongs to us? We were the founders of NASA. It is those who don’t want to carry out their obligations who should pull out. They said they were going to pull out, we told them to write a letter to the registrar. The rest of us are working nicely," he said.

Similar remarks were made by Ford Kenya Secretary General Eseli Simiyu, who  dared ODM to realize its threat and walk out. He too said that the remaining members are united.

He added that the trio will also not allow ODM to enjoy the political finding alone, but will push to have their share of the money.

"ODM said they will move out. We are waiting for them to move out so that the rest of us can continue as NASA. The coalition cannot collapse because three parties must leave for that to happen,” the Tongaren MP stated.

ODM has not been happy with her siblings in NASA, specifically, the two, after they fielded candidates in the concluded Kibra parliamentary by-elections last month, a seat ODM retained.
