Political professor Makau Mutua has advised Deputy President William Ruto to shelve his 2022 presidential ambitions.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mutua observed that the DP stands no chance of realizing the bid, terming him part of the problems ailing the nation and a visionless individual.
The former Chief Justice hopeful noted that the nation no longer needs Ruto and will not elect him, as he has been in leadership for years and has not initiated any betterment.
He also based his argument on Ruto's many implications in graft dealings, terming him stained and, therefore, not a person Kenyans would want anywhere near the leadership.
“This country in 2022 will need a leader with a vision, it does not need individuals like Mr Ruto who have been there, who are tainted and who have been accused of corruption," he said on JKL Show, Wednesday night.
Mutua added that all indications point at a surrounded man who has been incapacitated, advising him to consider something else as it is over for him with regards to realizing his goals.
He opined that its time the DP brainstormed afresh as he is headed for a humiliating thrashing.
"It’s over for him (Ruto), it’s over. If I was him I would probably go back to the drawing board and think of something different," he added.
However, the DP has been in the front line in discouraging politicians against overanalyzing his 2022 intentions, saying that Kenyans should use the current time to discuss progress.
