ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has defended opposition leader Raila Odinga from attacks by Deputy President William Ruto.
In recent weeks, DP Ruto has been going ballistic against Raila accusing him of using the Building Bridges Initiative report to antagonise him.
Over the weekend in Kitui, Sifuna asked Dr Ruto to direct his fury on BBI to President Uhuru Kenyatta, who unveiled the task force last year.
Sifuna claimed that Ruto is a coward, arguing that he has often failed to directly complain to Uhuru over the report which is due on Tuesday.
"We have been told that the report will be out on Tuesday. I wonder why you're opposing a report which you haven't read. When he attacks Raila, we know he has no problem with him. "
"He's only pissed off with his boss but has no courage to confront the president about BBI. It's Uhuru who brought BBI and that's why it will be launched at State House, let the DP deal with Uhuru," he said.
President Kenyatta and Raila are set to receive the task force report on Tuesday at State House, Nairobi.
On Sunday, Ruto accused Raila of using the handshake to plan for 2022, warning that the BBI report will not be used for political gains.
“There is that person saying that BBI will be a tsunami. We are not interested in a tsunami. The rest of us have been told by the president to wait and read the report. If our issues are inside the report, we will pass it. If the report is kombo kombo (crooked), we will defeat it,” said the DP.
