The club, did not, however, say when Oktay should be expected back in the country.

"Head coach Hassan Oktay has been accorded a few days off duty to attend to personal family matters back at his native home in Turkey. We are wishing him safe flight home as he hit the runway tomorrow," Gor Mahia tweeted.

Meanwhile, assistant coach, Patrick Odhiambo is expected to spearhead the team in absence of the Turkish.

Despite the club's assurance, the news has not gone well with a sections of fans, who raised concerns that the coach might use the leave to ditch Gor Mahia.

"I smell a rat here....with the recent release of players without his consent, I hope he comes back," Israel Otieno said.

"He is gone bring back Dylann Kerr," theSENIOR Evans opined.

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed signing a number of players ahead of the new season set to begin next month.

On Friday, Gor Mahia confirmed signing two forwards; one from Ivory Coast and another one from Ghana. The two are expected to fill the position left by Rwandese striker Jacques Tuyisenge who left the club during the transfer window.
