Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has rubbished claims that he threatened Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua during a function at the State House, Nairobi, last week.
Mutua, the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader, on Monday, recorded a statement at Kilimani Police Station saying his life is in danger over the alleged threats from Murkomen.
He claimed the Senator, together with Deputy President William Ruto and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, threatened him with undisclosed consequences on December 11, when they were hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the State House.
Murkomen dismissed the allegations, saying the Governor was out to create another episode of his popular TV series 'Cobra Squad' which aired on a local television a few years ago.
He said Mutua has resulted into acting like Joseph Goebbels, the controversial Minister of Propaganda during the Nazi Germany of dictator Adolf Hitler, after failing in his mandate as governor.
"Mr.Mutua is writing another episode of his cobra squad series. Having failed spectacularly as a leader he turned himself into a Joseph Goebbels of his county government. He is of no consequence to anyone to deserve any attention let alone threats. Let's just watch the cinematic. Vipindiree," Murkomen tweeted on Monday.
The Governor claimed Murkomen, Duale and Ruto threatened to teach him a lesson over his support for the fight against corruption, saying he decided to go public about the matter for the sake of his personal security and safety.
“I am writing to bring to your attention that the above named persons have on two different occasions threatened me with unspecified consequences because of my statements on national issues," Mutua said.
