The new Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro has said he is ready to take over the role.
Oraro revealed that he has laid down proper plans as the assembly speaker which will see Kisumu residents benefit from devolution.
“Our engagements henceforth shall be thorough oversight through constructive engagements. In the near future were are going to make some changes which shall not interfere with how we operate but strengthen how we operate to ensure Kisumu County becomes top in Kenya,” said Oraro.
The new speaker also lauded the members of his assembly for agreeing to move forward, adding that together with the minority and majority leaders they met ODM Party leader Raila Odinga and discussed bringing energy to the county assembly.
He, however, urged the media practitioners to embark on highlighting positives concerning the county government of Kisumu instead of the negative things that happened in the past.
On his side, majority leader Kenneth Onyango said the changes made by the county assembly are aimed at ensuring the county moves forward.
“As an assembly, we do make a very concise decision to make changes and the purpose of the changes is to ensure the county moves forward,” he said.
Oraro replaced Onyango Oloo who was ousted by the MCAs who wanted him to clear himself after he was accused of involvement in the Sh4.1 billion scandals at the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA).
