The late Ken Okoth wife Monica Okoth has come out to dispute the DNA results that confirmed the lawmaker fathered Nairobi MCA Anne Thumbi's son.
On Wednesday, Monica said that the results she has are different from those presented in the courtroom. She has now requested for 14 more days so that she can present the same to the court. KEMRI had confirmed 99.99 percent match of the results. Anne had wanted the son recognised before his burial.
During the MP’s funeral service, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko said that he was aware of the relationship between the lawmaker and the MCA. He said that he could not sit back and watch his friend’s son suffer when he is aware of the truth. He claimed that the deceased will not forgive him if he doesn't save the son.
“Ken will not forgive me if I don’t save the situation. Ken fell in love with a nurse called Anita from the Sonko rescue team. “In 2017, he asked me to help him nominate his second wife to the County Assembly and out of respect for him, I nominated Ann Thumbi,” said the governor.
The nephew Evans Olouch has also said that the family knew of the existence of the son.
“As a family we knew about Ken’s son and anybody in the family who will say otherwise will be telling a big lie. The family knew very well about Ken’s son even Monica knew about this child so taking DNA samples was just a waste of time since Ken was in full support of his child,” said Oluoch.
The deceased was later cremated amid differences among the family members. The new development comes after ODM Nominated Ken Okoth’s brother Imran Okoth is set to contest for the seat following his demise.
