Police officers in Kibwezi, Makueni County on Wednesday seized 2,880 rolls of bhang in Thange location.
The bang is valued at over Sh800,000.
Speaking to journalists, Makueni police county Commander Joseph ole Napeiyan revealed that police got a tip from residents where they carried out a crackdown at Sarah Mwende’s home.
“This must be trafficking because from the narrative we get these are three guys from Nyanza, that tells you that this are the traffickers and this lady from Ukambani must be the dealers,” Napeiyan indicated.
According to the police commander, police have so far arrested four people connected to the business, including Mwende, 47, who is the owner of the house, which was raided.
Napeiyan has said that police are carrying out crackdowns across Makueni in a bid to fight any illegal business in the county.
He noted that so far, this is the largest amount of trafficked substance they have nabbed.
“We are mounting that operation continuously, and we are appealing to members of the public to share information about those areas I’ve said about” noted the police boss.
Among businesses the police are targeting in their operations are Illicit brew, gambling machines, and trafficking of narcotics.
The suspects and the vehicle they were using are being held at Kibwezi Police station and are expected to be arraigned in court, Thursday.
