Lamu Governor Fahim Twaha has announced the sacking of three senior county employees.
The governor made the revelation in what many believe as a merger of ministries and departments.
Twaha has since relieved Simon Komu (fisheries department), Mohamed Badawy (Water) and Julius Okindo of Agriculture of their duties as he seeks to streamline service delivery in the county before the end of his term in office.
The governor has since merged the water docket with Agriculture and Irrigation. Twaha went ahead to name Faridah Hassan as the officer in charge of the docket.
According to the letters, which were seen by Standard, Twaha asked the officers to leave their offices on Friday as the changes take immediate effect.
The matter, however, came into the public domain on Tuesday for reasons best known to the county boss.
It is reported that the fired officials were asked to report to their offices one by one before they were presented with the letters terminating their job.
The governor allegedly held a closed-door meeting with the Deputy Governor, executive members and chief officers moments before he cracked the whip.
Twaha has maintained that he will deliver on the promises he made to the people of Lamu when he was seeking to be elected into office.
