Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i on Monday returned to ACK Bishop house in the offices of Civil Registration Bureau, three days after his impromptu stopover.
Last week, Dr Matiang'i visited the department and quarrelled staff members for 'shoddy job'. He confronted top officials and threatened to dismiss them.
Besides slow processing of documents, Dr Matiang'i was unhappy with the waiting bay, which was not equipped with chairs as required by the government.
And on Monday, the powerful Interior Minister apologised to Kenyans over the incompetence that has been exhibited by the officials in the past.
He promised to ensure the mess is fixed completely, adding that they 'will have a story to tell their children'. He vowed to visit the office daily until 'the mess is fixed'.
"Whereas I apologise as a public servant that this has taken long to be fixed, I want to promise that things will change for sure. You'll feel it and you'll see," he said.
"Like I said last week, I'll be here everyday until we sort out the mess. It's not okay to keep mistreating people. This is not fair, we are not being fair to people. I want to promise you that this will not happen again. It's a story you'll tell your children."
Dr Matiang'i said the offices of Civil Registration across the country will be equipped with enough customer care desks, public seats and enough restrooms.
"We now have customer care desks manned by NYS personnel, enough seats for members of the public, clean restrooms, and dignified services at the counters," he added.
