Deputy President William Ruto has bid farewell to Algeria's Ambassador to Kenya Salah Francis Elhamdi whose diplomatic stint in Kenya draws to an end.
In a series of tweets, the deputy president expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Salah Elhamdi for the work he had done in strengthening the bilateral ties between Kenya and Algeria.
The two met at the deputy president's official residence in Karen, Nairobi.
"Bid farewell to the Ambassador of Algeria, Salah Francis Elhamdi as his tour of duty comes to an end, Karen, Nairobi County," the DP wrote in one of the tweets.
DP Ruto applauded Algeria for the support it accorded Kenya as it sought a seat at the United Nations Security Council as a Non-Permanent member.
"Relations between Kenya and Algeria have sustained monumental growth, giving room for the exploration of massive economic and social opportunities that are mutually beneficial to the people," he added.
Algeria has been in the throws of a political crisis as protesters take to the streets to demonstrate against their government.
The country's president Abdelaziz Bouteflika was forced to resign early this year after weeks of protests.
