The lawmakers stormed the office of Pauline Kahiga while demanding that she approves the payment of pending bills of the County Government.

The move, however, did not augur well with their rival who accused them of overstepping their mandate in regard to the administration of the affairs of the residents of the area.

Assembly’s Minority Whip Peter Imwatok said that the lawmakers demanded that the Sh1 billion should be used to pay the pending bills as opposed to the planned reasons. The MCAs became irritated when Kahiga refused to heed to their demands.

“Sonko orders his loyal MCAs to evict the CEC for Finance for failure to accept to divert pending bills of 1 b which was released by Treasury as Sonko team lead by Chief of Staff who want their people to pay the entire money while the CEC Member for Finance Pauline Kahiga insists of she will not pay,” he said in a statement.

The MCAs faulted the CEC for being an obstacle to the administration of the county assembly. The MCAs went ahead and installed Allan Igambi, who is the Trade CEC in the position.

The move of the MCAs comes a day after Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga to intervene in the crisis facing the county government after the court barred Sonko from office.
