This is after detectives arrested State House Director of Digital Communications Dennis Itumbi over allegations he was behind an alleged fake letter at the centre of the assassination claims.

The letter, which has been doing rounds in the social media, was purportedly written by a Cabinet Secretary who sought to inform President Uhuru Kenyatta that his Cabinet colleagues from Mt Kenya region were meeting at Hotel La Mada to plan how Ruto will be killed.

After intensive investigations, the DCI reportedly found out that Itumbi posted the letter in a popular WhatsApp chat group allied to Ruto, hence his arrest.

But Waluke has termed the arrest of Itumbi, who works as a digital secretary in the DP's office, as political and accused the DCI of being used to 'cover up' Ruto's assassination plot.

Speaking to the press on Friday, the MP said all those who were out to stop Ruto from becoming Kenya's fifth president, including the said assassins, won't succeed in their mission since God was protecting him.

“We want to tell DCI that even if they arrest all the allies of the Deputy President, they will not succeed in stopping the presidency of Dr Ruto. Those planning to assassinate the Deputy President should know that God is watching them and that they will not be in office forever,” Waluke said as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Itumbi, who is currently in police custody, is expected to be arraigned next week and be charged with publishing alarming information.
